Chameleon Tree Lizard

From the shape of the Chameleon Tree Lizard, the head is relatively small. It is large, with well-developed eyelids, head and body length of 10-12 cm, and tail length of about 30 cm. The scales of the chameleon are relatively rough, and because there is a row of crest-like ridges on its back, it is also called the crested snake.

The back of the chameleon tree lizard is light brown with dark brown patches; there are radiating black lines around the eyes. During the reproductive season, the male head is red. The body color can change depending on the humidity of the environment and the intensity of the luster. The scales are extremely rough; there is a ridge on the back that looks like a cockscomb, so it is also called a cockscomb snake. The head is large, the tip of the snout is blunt and rounded, and the snout has obvious ribs. Eye alkali flourishes. The full membrane is exposed and there are no shoulder pleats. The scales on the back of the body are ribbed and arranged in a tile-like arrangement; on the midline of the back, from the neck to the base of the tail, there is a row of flat and upright hyena scales. The one on the neck is longer and shaped like a horse's hair. The hands and feet are prosperous, and the front and rear limbs have five fingers and toes, all with claws. The head and body are 80-90 mm long, and the tail length is about three times the length of the head and body. The head is large, the tip of the snout is blunt and rounded, and the snout ribs are obvious; the eyes are small, the eyelids are developed, and the pupils are round; the saturated membrane is exposed; there are no shoulder folds. The scales on the body surface are arranged in an imbricate shape, all with ribs, and the dorsal scale tips are backward; there is a row of side-flattened and upright hyena scales in the middle of the back. The neck flourishes, fading backward. The hands and feet are developed, the hind limbs are close to the body and reach the front and middle parts of the body, reaching the membrane or eyes. The front and rear limbs have five toes, both with claws. They are generally light brown or light brown-grey, with 5-6 black-brown horizontal spots on the back, a dark and light ring pattern on the tail, and dark radiating patterns around the eyes. There are two light yellow vertical stripes on the sides of the larvae and females. Male hyenas have developed scales, mandibular angle and tail base are larger than females, and the throat pouches are obvious.
